Godiva Festival 2006      NA before 2006    Forward to 2007

ACWA again had a stand in the Greenspace Marquee : 15-16 July 2006.

This years themes were: 1) September Challenge   2) Working Parties  3)Countryside around Coventry.

Occupying the same place as last year (that is right side of main marquee entrance against the side), we were allocated 4 table lengths of space which we reduced to 3 and a half lengths.

Presentations were put in place on Friday 3 to 5 pm the display boards and photographs were put on the tables.  The small boards (3 off) showed the countryside around Coventry and provided a good starting point for discussion.  A centre table was home to our free handouts which consisted of our brochure, challenge entry form and the latest newsletter which Bob B had produced early.  Next a small gap followed by Cyril B's ACW board and finally backed by a table were the three large display boards containing photographs of the work carried out around Stoneleigh in the "before and after" mode.

Outside again Mike Murray and his team provided a kissing gate, this year with rustic fencing and our Coventry Way board.  Altogether an attractive display.

With the forecast of hot weather John G supplied iced cold water on both days which was well received by our team and the many friends who came to visit.

Saturday was HOT even at 9:15am when John G arrived to safeguard our space (essential function!).   Cyril & Iris B, Bob C, Bernard R and Bill E. were soon in attendance with interested customers arriving shortly after 10 am.  We continued to be busy (attendance 75,000) until just after 5:30pm, having been well received.

Sunday was again HOT, John G arrived at 10:15am followed by Bob & Jo C, Cyril & Iris B, Bill H, John A and Keith G.  Although Sunday turned out to be quieter than Saturday we were on the go all day.

Overall the Festival was a resounding success with our position in the marquee excellent. John G was interviewed by BBC Coventry & Warwickshire TV who expressed interest in the Challenge which Bob B & Bob C will follow up.
