ACWA again had a stand in the Greenspace Marquee : 5-6 July
Lady Godiva and the crowds of customers
on Saturday Afternoon : 5-Jul-2008
This years themes were: 1) Working Parties 2) September
Occupying a new tent compared to last year (again we were to
the right side of an entrance to one half of the Greenspace trio of
linked tents). We were allocated 4 tables which we
arranged as a U shape, with display boards on each corner and 3
"counter" areas where we could show our wares and discuss with
visitors. This year visitors could go round three sides of our
stand, either on a trip round the tent, or splitting either way when
coming in our entrance.
Outside again Mike Murray and his team provided a kissing
gate, finger post, rustic fencing, log path edge/"stepping
stones" and our Coventry Way board, with a bench and a picnic
table supplemented this year by a Christmas tree. Altogether
an attractive display.
Our stand in action, viewed from the
midle "counter" : 5-Jul-2008
Saturday and Sunday were both "sunny periods with many heavy
showers" - but the grass near us somehow never became the muddy
quagmire of previous years. Saturday was crowded with a
continuous stream of visitors, with peaks whenever the rain
started. Although Sunday turned out as usual to be quieter
than Saturday we were on the go all day.
A key success this year was recruiting a number of new members
keen to help on our Working Parties
quieter day on Sunday, but good for recruiting volunteers :
Overall the Festival was again a resounding success with our
position in the marquee good.
