Before : 19-Nov-2006

After : 18-Jul-2007

July Achievements

On 18-Jun-2007 a Working Party installed a new Wooden Pedestrian Gate on walk 17A replacing the second of the stiles on the path going through the garden on The Laurels just east of Coventry Road, Fillongley.  The also installed a new Metal Pedestrian Gate on the main 40-mile path where the path leaves the Fish Ponds in Square Lane to cross the field towards Red Hill Farm.

A seat was also installed near the Metal Pedestrian Gate.

Plans

The next session will be on:

Wednesday 15th Aug at 9:30 am to about 1:00 pm
Location: Fillongley Road, Meriden
Meet at: Stile where path from the north joins Fillongley Road (B4102) near the A45 : GR 248 827
Task(s): Replace two stiles with k/g (GR 247 826 & GR 248 827), and improve installation of a third k/g (GR 246 827)

The first stile above is the one originally planned for 15-Oct-2006, which at last can now be completed, making walk 21 stile-free (As well as walk 21A).

Our plans for future working parties are to continue to place some effort in improving the remaining difficulties on the 40-mile walk and other circular walks, but to give more priority to creating further stile-free short (3 to 5 mile) circular walks.  Work on CWCW 17A started in February, and will take most of 2007.

Dates for rest of 2007 mostly on the third Wednesday in each month from Jan-Nov.  The expected dates are:

  • Wednesday 19 Sep
  • Wednesday 17 Oct
  • Wednesday 21 Nov

Why not volunteer to join us whenever you can?

Please contact John Green on 024 7650 3044 for further information.
