August Achievements

This month's tasks were to install two kissing gates and a new Waymark post near College Lane off Oldwich Lane East (GR 225 742 ), about 2.7 miles SW of Balsall Common.  This is not on an ACW walk, but was a priority task for SMBC we agreed to undertake.  see Map revised for Details.

Finding the site looked as though it might be tricky, but with good luck most of us arrived together at about 9:15, and could follow the SMBC van up to the sites and all park in the field near site 2, leading to a prompt start.  Both k/g were straightforward, and the new WMP was sited at a point between the two gates visible from both, and was set in a deep hole so that with luck the horses can't move it.

The morning was sunny and warm, and the ground damp but with no mud or floods.  Both tasks were completed in record time by about 11:40 so we went to "The Tipperary" in Meer End for a good lunch.

Plans

The Working party on 19-Sep-2012 has been cancelled.  The full September WP will almost certainly be on 03-Oct-2012 when we plan to replace the wooden gates where ACW enters and exits Meriden Churchyard.

The next full session planned is:

Wednesday 3rd October 2012 at 9:30 am to about 1:00 pm
Location:

Meriden Churchyard

Park at:

Queen's Head, Meriden, or if near Church Lane, a few 100 yds west of the Church on the "grasscrete".

Meet at:

Site 1, the gate from ACW onto Church Lane.

Task(s):

Replace two old broken wooden gates with new wooden gates (plus maybe install new Finger Post)
   See Map for details

The probable remaining 2012 dates (3rd Wed every month Jan-Nov) are:

  • 03-Oct-2012
  • 17-Oct-2012
  •
  • 21-Nov-2012
