Next WPPrevious WP ACWA Working Party

On 16-Mar-2016 a WP repaired two k/g on ACW & CW06 near Leamington Road, Stoneleigh.

The 1st repaired k/g completed : 16-MAR-2016

March Achievements

On 16-Mar-2016 a WP repaired two k/g on ACW & CW06 on either side on Leamington Road, Stoneleigh, the 1st to the East and the 2nd to the West.

xxxx  xxxx
The 2nd k/g before ... then after completion with all posts upright : 16-MAR-2016

The 1st K/G was one of the first we installed on 15-Jan-2006 WP
(see news-wp-P001 for photo & details) and maintained for the first year.  Since then much use had lowered the surface going through the gate area caused ever deeper mud or water, and the slam post had leaned over causing the gate to stick inside the slam post.  Both now fixed, with the water now being drained via a shallow ditch and the area inside the gate raised and stoned to hopefully be drier for a few years!  The slam post is now supported by a new wooden stay post.

The 2nd K/G was one of the original wooden gates which by 2006 looked as though they were getting near the end of life.  By 2016 it was leaning in all directions with all posts rotten underground!  We added wooden "godfathers" and other timber so we hope it might have a few more years of adequate life.

Afterwards some of us went to the the "Malt Shovel" in Bubbenhall.

Plans

The next WP is due on on Wednesday 18th May 2016 - Details below.

The task we will be doing on 18th May is the one we were hoping to do on 20-Apr-2016 but it had to be postponed and other tasks could not be organised.

Note that the WP to build the new boardwalk to extend the "long bridge to mud" to reach dry grass, north of Carol Green will not be possible until mid-2016.

Wednesday 18th  May 2015 at 9:30 am to about 1:00 pm
Location: Moat Farm  (bottom of the map on walk 3, where the path turns off Hob Lane - GR 263 753)
