Next WPPrevious WP ACWA Working Party

On 16-Nov-2016 & 16-Dec-2016 two WPs installed 3 new k/g on 21 Circular Walk 3 section from Tanners Lane to Duggins Lane.

K/G 3 nearing completion : 16-Nov-2016

November & December Achievements

On 16-Nov-2016 a WP installed 2 new k/g to replace 2 Stiles, both on 21 Circular Walk 3 southern part of section from Tanners Lane to Duggins Lane.

 K/G 2 during construction : 16-Nov-2016

Both tasks were fairly routine, but both needed most holes dug in hard stoney ground.

K/G 1 was planned to be done the same day, but unfortunately only 2 gates could be supplied.  This will be scheduled for another day, during Dec-2016.

The summary for 2017 has now been drafted - download ACWA-WP-Achievements.xls if you would like to see it (or any of the other years of all time summary).  A key point about 2016 was that all 9 K/G installed by ACWA WP this year were in Solihull.

We had 8 volunteers to carry out the work.  Another day of fine sunny weather, with not a drop of rain.  We finished at about  13:30, and 4 of us then went to the Bell Inn for a satisfying meal .

On Friday 16-Dec-2016 a second WP installed 1 new k/g to replace 1 Stile, on 21 Circular Walk 3 section near  Tanners Lane, and also made the stile near the road a gap, added a seat and strengthened the sleeper bridge near the road.

K/G 1 nearing completion & the new seat under test by Father Xmas : 16-Dec-2016

New Gap & strengthened sleeper bridge  : 16-Dec-2016

Also on Friday 16-Dec-2016  a one man team supported by SMBC delivery went to Meriden and installed a new Finger Post where ACW leaves Church Lane.  This replaced the Finger Post at that site which had recently vanished.

A team of 7 volunteered for the extra WP on Friday, and all tasks were finished by 12:30.  The Wednesday of this week was the day for an ACWA Xmas Lunch  at "The Sparrow" in thanks for another years work.  That did not stop 5 of us going for lunch at the "Bear at Berkswell" on Friday!

We had no WP during January.

The next Full WP is due on on Wednesday 15th February 2017, BUT we may move it to Wednesday 8th February if materials are available and weather is dry, or we may even have WP split between both dates.

Note that the WP to build the new boardwalk to extend the "long bridge to mud" to reach dry grass, north of Carol Green will not be possible until later in 2017.

Wednesday 8th &/or 15th February 2017 at 9:30 am to about 1:00 pm

Location: Hodgett's Lane (GR 263 768) to slope down to Greenway just before bridge over Greenway - Part of Walks 3 / 3A.

Task 1 : Build Steps and add WMPs on path down to Greenway
Task 2 : Move "dry" earth from ditch near meeting place to muddy parts beyond the culvert + clearing the ditch on NW side of the path beyond the culvert.
