Next WPPrevious WP ACWA Working Party

On 08-Feb-2017 & 15-Feb-2017, two full WPs built a flight of new steps and partly cleared the muddy path Hodgett's Lane to near bridge over Greenway - Part of ACW & Walk 3/3A.

Nearly completed flight of new steps : 08-Feb-2017

February Achievements

The first task was to built the flight of new steps

The new steps were built so that ACW 40-mile route can by-pass the "closed" bridge (See DIVERSIONS news).

The diverted ACW route uses the "permissive" short cut joining the footpath just before going over the bridge to join the Greenway.

The lower end of that path involved a dodgy slippery steep slope which is now replaced by the 7 steps on the photo above.

A very significant improvement!

 The "closed" bridge :  : 08-Feb-2017

The second task was to clear the very muddy path from Hodgett's Lane

This involved:

  1. Digging the ditch to improve drainage when the culvert gets blocked
  2. Putting the earth from the ditch onto the 1st muddy path area
  3. Diverting the path via the top of the bank to the SE side of 2nd muddy path area

The path itself and the drainage reliability could still be improved even more.  We Had another WP on Wed-15-Feb to make more progress on this task,

We had about 10 volunteers & finished just before 1:00pm.  About Five of us went for lunch at the "Bear at Berkswell" again.

The next WP will probably be a small group on Wednesday 15th March.
