On 18 June and 20 June we replaced two stiles by kissing gates just west of the B4098 at Corley Ash, and installed a new pedestrian gate as part of creating a permissive path to avoid use of a potentially dangerous stretch of the B4102 just south of Chapel Green.
Final checks on kissing gate where ACW leaves B4098 at Corley AshWe have installed kissing gates to replace the first just west of the B4098 at Corley Ash. By the second gate we have have also installed a substantial sleeper bridge, which with associated earthworks we hope will eliminate a frequently muddy patch. This is the first working party to start on the elimination of the worst difficulties on the 40-mile ACW route.

New pedestrian gate on the Permissive Path being created to avoid use of the B4102Unfortunately (new or upgraded) self closing springs still need retro fitting to some of the wooden gates on the After Tea walk. New supplies to allow this were delivered, but were of the unsatisfactory 6½ inch type. Activities are ongoing to try to get 8 inch or 10 inch springs. I am unable to make a sensible prediction of when this will be fully resolved, but have worked out a method for using the 6½ inch type if necessary, but feel this could be a less than fully satisfactory solution – it could however be an adequate short term fix.
