Work Party News

19 March 2006
A third Work Party progressed the project to replace all stiles on the “After Tea” walk from Stoneleigh.

At the start of 2006 the walk included a possible 12 stiles when all the field gates are locked shut (a minimum of 9 at any time). After these first three Work Parties there are five fewer stiles.

Today’s Achievement

We have installed a kissing gate to replace “stile 10” (GR 324 728). This means that all the kissing gates shared by ACW and the “After Tea” walk have been replaced.
Unfortunately the new supply of kissing gates was not delivered in time, so only one gate was completed today. If the new supplies are received by WCC early next week, John may organise a special mid-week session to replace “stile 8” which had been planned for today.

Plans

The next Sunday session will now be on:
Sunday 9th April 2006 at 10:00 am to about 1:00 pm.
Meet at SW end of Vicarage Road, Stoneleigh : GR 328 726.
Our task will be to replace the stile at the meeting point (stile 8), and the stile ca.250 metres across the field (stile 9).

The earlier proposed date of 18th April 2006 (Easter Sunday) is cancelled.
Dates for the rest of 2006 are then as follows:

  • Sunday 21st May
  • Sunday 18th June
  • Sunday 16th July
  • Sunday 20th August
  • Sunday 17th September
  • Sunday 15th October
  • Sunday 19th November
