Further improvements were made to the path leaving Hodgett’s Lane to slope down to Greenway – again working on the muddy parts beyond the culvert, but this time making the complete path adequate for now.

 

Bob Carey said “Just to say a big thank you to all of you who came out today to finish off the Hodgett’s Lane path. What a great difference this has made. I just hope all the contestants in the Challenge appreciate all the effort that has been put into this job. It might at sometime in the future need a bit of “fine tuning” here and there, but in the main I think we have achieved a really great result.

Roger, Alan and I went over to Kenilworth Golf Course first to re-install three waymark posts, this time with concrete. Hopefully this is a job that won’t need doing again for quite a while. This of course is why we were a little late getting to Hodgetts Lane.”

A total of 12 tons of stone have now been used. and maybe two more tons will be used for finishing the planned surface.

It must also be recorded that lots of smaller projects have been implemented by individuals and small teams to cover all the needed tasks to get the 40-Mile route in good condition for the Challenge event, and a few more will be completed before or by early April.

The next WP will be on Wednesday 18th April 2018.

The remaining 2018 dates (assuming 3rd Wed every month as agreed at the AGM 2018) will probably be:
