Work Party News

27 July 2023
Following reports from a walker that part of the route of one of our 21 Circular Walks was seriously overgrown and that a footbridge in the same area was in quite poor condition an inspection party set out a week or so ago to assess the work needed to remedy the problems.

Assessing the task

It was established that the footbridge requires new planking and Warwickshire County Council have kindly agreed to provide the materials needed for the job. A work party will be organised to carry out the repairs to the footbridge when the materials arrive in two or three weeks.

Today’s work party cut back the overgrown hedging and undergrowth on a section of enclosed path situated between Bubbenhall Wood and Weston Lane, part of Route A on Walk 7 of our 21 Circular Walks.

They also installed a new waymark post to replace the one that had rotted and fallen down.

Before leaving the site they cut back the encroaching weeds and brambles around the footbridge preparatory for the footbridge repairs to be done later.

We are hoping to be able to enlist the help of a couple of additional able-bodied volunteers to help in transporting the heavy footbridge planks from the nearest roadway to the site. The route involves crossing two fields and negotiating two kissing gates.
